Aim: The examiners expect you to park at a SAFE, LEGAL, and CONVENIENT place on the right side of the road. You should not touch the kerb. You are then expected to reverse two car lengths, before moving off and returning to the left side of the road.

The examiners also expect to see you react accordingly to other road users whilst performing the manoeuvre.

TIPS:

Do not complete this manoeuvre in one smooth attempt. The examiners want to see that you are fully aware of your surroundings. That means, you need to stop at every stage and have a good look around.

The Highway Code says that you should be mainly looking in the direction that you are going. So do not start reversing until you are looking in that direction.

It may be prudent to give a commentary of what you see nearby which may affect your ability to reverse. Things like cars on drives, pedestrians nearby, etc.

So you could say something like...…"I can see a car on the drive behind me, but it's stationary and there's no one in it....It's clear so it's safe to move"

Take your time.....the tortoise always wins!
